Pasting a value to a large range of cells

I am trying to paste a single number to a column with 40,000+ consecutive rows. It's very time consuming to hightlight the target cells. Is there a way to specify a range of cells that the value should be put into?

Welcome to the board.

You can go to the Name Box (to the left of the formula bar)
And just type in the range like A1:A40000 then press enter
The range is now highlighted, and you can right click - paste.
