Pasting formulas

Before yesterday, if I wrote a formula in a cell, and pasted it anywhere, the formula would remain and would automatically be calculated. Then mysteriously, Excel 2007 has decided not to do this, but instead paste the value of the previous cell instead, yet keep the formula the same. I would like to revert back to the previous default of pasting the formula, and having the formula recalculate. If I enter '1' into cell A1 and the formula = A1 * 2 in cell B1, press enter, the formula calculates and returns '2'. Now if I copy and paste that formula into cell B2, with A2 being '2' the answer should be '4' but is returned as the previous answer in cell B1 of '2', even when the formula now shows = A2 * 2. I know that I can use paste special for each new cell, but I have thousands of cells to copy into.

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
This is strange. Are you sure you don't have $A$1 instead of A1?

Welcome to the forums!

It sounds like your calculations got turned off. Go to Tools>Options>Calculation and make sure Calculations are set to Automatic.
