Pasting Special w/o Blanks

This was working fine, I don't know what I did (accidental keyboard shortcut maybe?) but now when I paste special (desination formatting) from another excel file into the master database, every space copied from the source file overwrites the existing data in the destination when before the data I'm pasting would just overlay. How do I fix this?

Here's some screenshot examples (not perfectly cut but I hope you understand what I'm getting at):

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Ah if that happens again I'll try that. I fixed it already by saving from an xls to xlsx now I'm going to save back. Thanks anyway!
