Performing textbox additions on UserForm

Hi All!
Maybe I've been looking at the screen too long but I can't seem to solve what appears to be a simple problem! A simplified version of my code is:

Private Sub AddGst()
Dim totamt, amt1, amt2 As Currency

amt1 = UserForm1.TextBox1.Value 'say 40
amt2 = UserForm1.TextBox2.Value 'say 35
totamt = amt1 + amt2
UserForm1.TextBox3.Value = totamt

End Sub
The result that appears in TextBox3 is 4035 and I can't see why! Any thoughts please.

Hi

The results from the textboxes are text and have to be converted to a value.

amt1 = val(UserForm1.TextBox1.Value)
amt2 = val(UserForm1.TextBox2.Value)
