Phantom Addins

I have somehow managed to create some Addins in Excel 2007. I can tick and untick them so they seem to exist somewhere. I have searched for them in Explorer and cannot find them anywhere using [Name.xl*]. They are definitely not in the default Addin folder which is empty. I cannot see them in the Project window in the VB editor when they are ticked.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about removing them from the list of available Addins produced by Tools>Addins?

Get help while writing formula
Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.
goto 'xl Options' - then 'add-ins' - you will get a list of active and inactive add-ins - also shown is the path to the XLAM files - just widen the box so you can see full path

- now go delete the files

next time you goto add-ins - if will tell you it cannot find files - do you want to delete from list? - you may have to press <Go> then check and uncheck - I forget.
