Currently, we have a Excel spreadsheet in which a tab contains a database like of information (both sensitive & non-sensitive) on a particular topic. From this database, we devleoped Excel's Pivot Table. In order to share that data, we develop a Pivot Table on that same spreadsheet revealing non sensitive informaiotn We made a copy of that spreadsheet and place it on a New Book (i.e. another spreadsheet). We send that new spreadsheet to other via outlook. When the recipient of that email receive and open the attachment, he will simply only see that pivot table as a single tab. However, the recipient can double-click on a figure in that Pivot Table and see the information from the complete database (both sensitive and non-sensitive) informaton. We did not anticipate this action. As a added security measure, we had the original database on a secured subfolder on our network. And yet the recipent was able to see the (what we thought) was secured data. Any helpful hints in preventing the linkage to the original databse of information?

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Welcome to the Board!

Instead of a straight Copy/Paste, which also pastes the PivotCache (and the underlying data), you can use Paste Special-->Values. You'll lose Pivot Table functionality, but if it's just for display then that shouldn't be an issue. If you need to retain the PT functionality there are workarounds, but they involve VBA.
