Hello,

I am using Excel 2010 and have created a pivot table where the main columns are "sales value" and "margin value". I want to add a column "% Margin" which is simply margin divided by sales. The % Margin is actualy available in the field list but I simply cannot get it to show as a straight percentage. I am sure it is something to do with the field settings and what I want to see is shown in column E below. Any help available?

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 366pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=487><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 48pt" span=2 width=64><COL style="WIDTH: 68pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3291" width=90><COL style="WIDTH: 70pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3401" width=93><COL style="WIDTH: 72pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3510" width=96><COL style="WIDTH: 60pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 2925" width=80><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 12.75pt" height=17><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 48pt; HEIGHT: 12.75pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl64 height=17 width=64>

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Have a calculated field of MarginValue divided by SalesValue? In 2007, under PivotTable Tools, Options tab, group Tools, there is a button for Formulas. Choose Calculated Field option there.

Many thanks Glenn, sorted. Just for reference, in 2010 you need to go to the "Options" > "Calculation" tools
