Pivot table date filters not available

Hi There,

I have a fairly simple pivot table I'm trying to use (In Excel 2010), and one of my fields is a date field, but I can only get the label filters to work. The date filters remain grayed out.

I have double checked my data to make sure my dates are being stored properly, and I have ensured that there are no blank records in the data set and that I am using only cells with data in them as opposed to whole columns.

Anyone have any idea why my date filters are still unavailable?

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
The last thing I could suggest is to push CTRL+~ and make sure that all of your dates in the date turn into their serial number. (Repeat the key press to switch back.) If they don't then they'll need to be converted to their serial number. You've said you've checked for blanks, but double check as well. :)

Hi CWatts,

Thanks for the reply: It did not solve my issue, but that keyboard shortcut is a useful tidbit nonetheless!

I did manage to figure it out: I noticed that the workbook in which I was working was an .xls file as opposed to an .xslx. Apparently excel does not support date filtering in comparability mode: Saving the workbook in the newer format solved the problem.

Cheers,

Nolan
