pivot table dates to months

hi

I have a table with lots of dates. For example col A are quantities A1=15, A2=10, A3=12 and so on. Col B is dates of purchase. I need to make pivot table to have some summary of all things but i need it to sum quantities by month. How to do that because I have dates and also in pivot come in all dates.
