Pivot Table Distinct Count not working

I was showing a co worker how to generate a pivot table for the distinct count. When he check the Add this data to the Data Model in the Create PivotTable box it would return a blank page for either a new worksheet or existing worksheet. Without the box check it would generate a pivot. Could he be missing an add in or something?

Disregard the source file may have been corrupt. My co worker was unable to save any changes.
