Hi

I have just tried to update a pivot table which I used about 2 weeks ago except one of the fields from the Pivot table has been removed and when I go to add it back in on the field list and then change the Value field settings to sum it is giving the following error message - " We Can't summarise this field with Sum because it's not a supported calculation for Text Data types"

The data I am trying to sum is all number data and it worked perfectly up until today after adding data to the source table.

Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening. The pivot table looks up data from another Excel workbook on the same network if that makes a difference. If I create the pivot table on the same workbook as the source data it works no problem but gives the above error when trying to update the report created on a different workbook

Thanks
Sinead
