One of my pivot table filters has multiple options of the same field. How can I get it to clear?

My data list is:
Mar 17
Mar 18 afternoon
Mar 18 night
Mar 20 afternoon
Apr 2

My filter list is showing up like:
Mar 20 afternoon
Mar 17
Apr 2
Mar 18 afternoon
Mar 18 night
Mar 20 afternoon
Apr 2

I've tried editing my name and redefining the range, but on the pivot table two of the items appear twice?

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Names appearing twice, IMO, means only that they are different. Such as, one has a trailing space. That is, one might be "like this" and the other "like this ". Suggest you carefully check the source data to identify the difference in your particular case.

To clear old names, there is some well presented info at http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot04.html
