Pivot table formatting

Is there a way to have pivot table not create any subtotals when it's first created? I run a lot of basic pivot tables and am constantly unclicking the subtotals to get an actual list of the data.

Also, the only way I know to preserve the formatting of the pivot table is to do it one column at the time (e.g. number formatting). Is there a way to set the formatting for the whole pivot table?

Thank you
Tiina

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
I create macros to format the pivot table - because that is so annoying isn't it? Wonder if the newer Excel version has improved that
