Pivot Table Loses Conditional Formatting on Update

Hi All

I am using excel 2010.

I have created a pivot table and added conditional formatting to the cells that encompass the pivot table.

On updating the pivot table, or even filtering, all the conditional formatting is lost.

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks
Stu

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
For data fields, I specify a rule for each and specify it should apply to all cells for that field.
For other fields, I actually apply the CF to the entire column of the sheet and that seems to work.

Thanks Rorya

Doesn't seem to work for me - I've tried just setting the rules for the whole column on the worksheet and not just table tables - and bizarrely, the range then revert to selecting all the cells in that column that AREN'T in the table.

Weird.

For the record I think I've just cracked it.

Select any cell in the table and select "New Rule" then you should get several radio buttons so select the one that says "All Cells Showing <your data> Values".

It works in 2010 anyway.

That's what I mean by my first point - only works for data fields (not row/column)

Brilliant! Thanks!

I have the same issue in Excel 2010. The method described seems to work but cannot be paired with a formula to determine which cells to format. Does that seem accurate or am I missing a checkbox somewhere? Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you so much for the second tip, Rory - it saved my sanity!

It only works until you try to move data within the Pivot table. When I pull in more data the CF goes away. The rule is still there it just doesn't work. Any other suggestions out there
