This might be stupid question but i've created a pivot table and i'm wodering how do I set-it up to automatically update new entries in the ledger.:???:

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Hi..

if you right click on the pivot table and click on refresh...
you should be able to get the updated table as per the changes made....

It's not working. do you think it's the reference area that I initially used might be the problem? should I expand it? I'm lost:confused:

I have had the need for the same thing. You have to first fix the range the pivot table is reading by making it a dynamic named range. This simply means the range will adjust as new data entered in your rows. You can read about dynamic ranges here. http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot01.html<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
After creating the dynamic range, open your layout on your pivot table and type the named range into the field. Now, Each time you enter new data the pivot table will adjust the range, but you will still have to click refresh each time. This only saves you the step of manually adjusting the range each time you add data.<o:p></o:p>
