Pivot Table Weirdness

I am trying to help my wife, who works at an auto dealer, by taking a file which contains lots of data in a flat file format, and taking out the "pretty" lines like "========================", so that the data can be used in a pivot table.

I was able to do that, and I created two new columns, "Category" and "SubCategory", and filled them with appropriate data from column A, which held text strings such as "Used - Parts", "Used - Labour", etc. I broke those down into main categories and subcategories. That worked fine.

But, when I build the PivotTable in the next sheet, it did something weird. I put the "Category" up into the "Page" area, and "SubCategory" in the "Row" area. Each month's totals show up as separate subs, so I placed them all in the data area.

Now, I would expect that when I select a "Category", such as "Used", that I would only see the "SubCategory" choices appropriate for that choice in the pivottable - but I don't. I see every choice even if some are not related to that category.

This is driving me nuts, because I build tables for my sales teams every day, and when I select the team manager, only his or her reps show up as possible choices. What in the heck am I doing wrong?!

Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Cooler heads have now prevailed, and everything seems to be fine.

In the words of Emily Littella "Never mind".
