Pivot Tables 2007 vs 2003 Data Items

In excel 2003 data items defaulted as being on rows & you could change them to columns & change them back to rows in the layout option. In excel 2007 the data/value items default to being columns. How can you make them be on rows in 2007?

If it's anything like 2010 and I'm thinking of what you're talking about you can do this.

• Right click in the Pivot Table Field List
• Select Pivot Table Options
• Go to the Display Tab
• Check the "Classic Pivot Table" box

I hope that is what you were after.

No, I did find that option & I am using it. Say you had months going across the top & you had 10 data/value items. Excel 2003 would have shown those 10 in 10 different rows, whereas, 2007 is showing them in 10 different columns. Very messy when you have months across the top.

I just figured it out! In the new area at the bottom of Field List, you can drag 'Values' from the Column Labels to the Row Labels.
