This maybe extremely easy and I just can't wrap my brain around it because I am soooo tired,;), but I need help. I have a spreadsheet that I am creating to keep track of a budget. I have four columns, D is Beginning Budget, E is Deposits, F is Withdrawls, and G is Account Balance. G is formulated =SUM(D26:E26)-(F26). What I am stuggling with is I would like to input amounts to the cells, lets say, D=1, E=3, F=2, which would total G=2. Now I would like to put in F=6 and get G to =6. Is this possible??? Thanks in advance for any help!

If F = withdrawls and the current balance is 2, how can you withdrawl 6 and end up with an updated balance of 6?

Please make it clear..

G - Account Balance is the difference of D+E and F right? How is the below question possible?

Please clarify so we can help.. ;)

I'm so sorry!!!:( I guess I need a calculater! Lol! G would =8! Again, so sorry!

I guess what I am trying to ask is if it is possible to keep a running balance while changing the data in cells?

It sounds like you want to use an accumulator but I would not recommend doing so.

If you make a mistake you may not be able to fix it.

Your description sounds like a typical check register.

Book1
EFG
25DepositsWithdrawlsBalance
26__1
27322
286_8
Sheet1

G26 is the beginning balance.

Enter this formula in G27 and copy down to allow for future data addition:

=IF(COUNT(E27:F27),SUM(G26,E27,-F27),"")

Thanks for the advice. It is kind of like a check registry but I can't add rows to the worksheet in order to keep the total running.

What I have is this:

Worksheet = Report

C - D - E - F - G
Sub Account- Beginning Balance -Deposit Withdrawl- Account Balance

26 Teachers - 5 - 10 - 3 - 12
27 Substitutes - 10 - 5 - 5 - 10

Now I would like to add a deposit to the teacher account of 8 and get a total of 20 without adding rows under the teacher name. I have around 300 sub account to track and was hoping to simplify the amount of information on this worksheet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

Well, I think this is a bad idea! :)

You enter 102.50 but you actually wanted to enter 105.20. You have no audit trail to look for errors. If you don't catch it immediately then you're "screwed"! :eeek:

This is what you want to do:

I'm sure you'll need help setting it up so you might want to start a new thread and note in your post that you need VBA help to set up an accumulator.

Good luck!
