Possible to data validation?

If I set a data validation for example in A1, then the List in data validation is first choice is CX001 - John Robert then if I clicked, just the CX001 only will show up in cells, the name will not included.

Is the name in the list always the same format? A code, then a space, then a hyphen, then a space then the name?

If so, you can select the entry from the list and then, in the next cell, have this formula:

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

Assuming the data validation cell is A1, edit to suit.

Yes same format, code is from CX0001 to CX0075.
CX0001 - John Robert
to CX0075 - (with different name)
