I have been using Powerpivot on 32bit Excel on company laptop HP Probook 640G4 with 8Gb or RAM for a couple of years with no issues. Recently, I have received a laptop replacement HP Elitebook 745 G6 which also has 8Gb RAM. When trying to refresh the same Powerpivot model, I am now getting the "Memory error: Allocation failure" message.
At first I thought this was due to the lower amount of available RAM (5.93Gb) as the new laptop has 2 Gb RAM dedicated to ATI Radeon Vega graphics. Since I am not able to change the BIOS setting, I added another 8Gb of RAM, however, I still keep getting the same error message. When I reduce the number of rows in the table significantly using query the table will refresh OK. Both PCs are upgraded to the latest Win10 64 bit version and have the same version of Office 365 installed with Excel version in both being Semi-Annual Enterprise 2008 (Build13127.21624).
Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this error on my new PC?
