Can anyone help me here. I created a personal.xlsm workbook with 13 modules each containing vba code(marcos).

Then I used Custom UI editor for microsoft to add some xml to this workbook. The xml code simply add a new custom tab, which has custom groups and custom buttoms to run the above macro's.

If I open excel 2007 then everything works as it should. That is, the custom tabs, groups and buttons appears and the macros work.

Now when I open any of my existing workbooks this custom tab with the groups and buttons are not there.

I have tried all sorts of different things - deleted it all and created it all again, renamed workbook from xlsm to xlsb, etc. Still no joy.

Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
You can put your ribbon customizations in an Addin (.xlam) - that seems to work best. If you never used addins, just check around for a site that will explain the basics to you. I've been using an xlam to create a custom tab for Excel and so far so good.

Ron Debruin has some good ideas on this as well.
Lots of ribbon instruction here:

An interesting alternative for your favorite macros here:

Thanks xenou, I have being following the instructions from Ron Debruin website. I carefully followed the instructions but I think that I have issue with or don't quite understand AddIn's.

Any site youcan suggest would be appreciated.

Addins aren't really very complicated per se. For starters though use a very simple one to test with:
  • create a single workbook, with a single custom tab in it, and a single macro for it.
  • Save the workbook as an addin (you can pick this in the save as type dropdown).
  • Excel will probably "want" to save it in a user folder. That's fine. Addins can also go in a folder in program files in which case it would be available to all users.
  • After doing this, you have to "install" the addin from your Excel options. Instructions are here:http://peltiertech.com/WordPress/installing-an-add-in-in-excel-2007/
  • Hopefully it works. Now add the rest of your ribbon customizations.
