I am having a problem with my vlookup. I know the formula is correct, but it keeps returning #N/A. Is there a possibility I have disable something that is stopping the calculation from working?

My formula is below:

=VLOOKUP(A22,'[Feature code model lookup.xls]Feature Code'!$A:$D,4,FALSE)

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
yes it definitely does, I have searched using ctrl F and copy paste..

I have tried trimming spaces but still it isn't working...

going mad!

When you trimmed spaces, did you trim both A22 as well as column A of the section you are looking up ?

Using TRIM will remove spaces but not non-printing characters. Maybe try testing the length of the cell using =LEN(A22), or comparing it to the cell in your lookup range, using =EXACT(A22,[Feature code model lookup.xls]Feature Code'!A22)

I have fixed it! I went to Tools - Options and reset the calculation tab to Automatic. For some reason it had changed to manual.

Phew! Back to work now

Thanks!
