Protection question

I have two work sheets, Sheet 1 has a long list of names and the cells have conditional formatting. When I select a name (cell) on sheet 1 and copy it and then paste it to sheet 2 the conditional formatting moves with it.

How do you stop that from happening? I just want it so users can copy a name from sheet one and paste onto another sheet without messing up the conditional formatting on the sheet that they paste the name to. I know you can do paste special (value). But other users always seem not to do that and the conditional formatting always gets messed up. I've tried to protect sheet but then people can't change things that need to be changed.

Hope someone knows what I am talking about and can offer help.
I'm using 2003
Thanks,
Rick

Thanks, but as I stated above I know how to do that, but not all users that use this spreadsheet know to do that, so what happens is that they do a copy and then paste and what happens is that they end up pasting the condtional formatting also. So what I was looking for was some how to protect that from happening but still allow someone to copy a name on sheet 1 and be able to paste it onto another sheet without changing the formatting of the sheet they paste to. Can that be done somehow?

Thanks,
Rick
