Hiya, I'm new to excel and even newer to this forum...

How can i increase the size of an individual cell vertically?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
I don't think you can w/ an individual cell. You can just increase the size of the entire row and / or the entire column.

An individual cell cannot be resized, but you have a couple options:
  • Resize the entire row or column
  • Merge the cell with adjacent cells

Since Excel is a grid...you can't actually change the size of a single cell.
However, that doesn't mean you can't get the effect you're looking for by merging cells.

Example:
• Select cells B2:B4
• CTRL+1...to open the formatting window
• Click the Alignment tab
• Check: Merge cells

The selected cells will be "combined" into what appears to be one cell.

Note: Merged cells can be problematic in some sorting and selecting operations. But, used sparingly, they can be effective.

Does that help?

Many thanks for your quick replies...I can see why i could not do this! A further question: if I increase the row size, is there any way that I can write multiple lines within that row??
