Query breaking for NO reason

When every I run a Append query I get a error
" The INSERT INTO statement contains the following unknown field name: 'Scac(BKG/FRT)' Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and try the operation again."

The field name is correct ie - Scac(BKG/FRT). If I edit the query by just selecting some other field and then again select this field and save, then the query runs fine. Even tried compact and repair before running this query but still getting the same error.

Any suggestions to correct this. I always get error for this field only

Thanks

My suggestion is to rename that field. That is a horrendous name and goes against a common sense naming rule -

Do not use names with special characters (no using / or parens () in names)

You might get it to work for you if you enclose in square brackets

[Sac(BKG/FRT)]

But I would not keep that as it will cause you no end of grief.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I cannot rename this field as there are around 120 queries using this field.
Is there any other work-around?
