Query one workbook and put results in another

I have a master workbook that needs to query a data source workbook and put the results in an third workbook. I first tested to be sure the query was pulling the correct data, but when I try to get the query, which is in the Master workbook, to query datasource and put the result in the third workbook - NOTHING. Can this even be done?
