# Question about Source Data for charting...

Let’s say I want to chart some simple X-Y data. The X values are between D6 and D14. The Y values are between E6 and E14.

To do this, I would enter the following into the “Source Data: Series” window:

X Values: =Sheet1!\$D\$6:\$D\$14
Y Values: =Sheet1!\$E\$6:\$E\$14

So far so good.

But let’s say I want to change the range. As an example, let’s say I want the X values to be between D7 and D13, and the Y values to be between E7 and E13. To do this I could manually enter the following into the “Source Data: Series” window:

X Values: =Sheet1!\$D\$7:\$D\$13
Y Values: =Sheet1!\$E\$7:\$E\$13

But I don’t want to do this. Is there a way I can automatically change the range using a function or formula from within the spreadsheet? In other words, how do I “get at” the source data:series limits using Excel functions or equations? Can I somehow “push” the range data into the chart program? Or is the opposite possible, i.e. is there a way the chart program can “pull” the range information from cells within the spreadsheet?

Thank you

Excel contains over 450 functions, with more added every year. That’s a huge number, so where should you start? Right here with this bundle.
