I am trying to do the following:if cell # j2 has the text 51525 then find that same text number in column a1:a25 then go three cells to the right and enter the text in that cell in cell # j2.
I'm going to rephrase just so I am sure I understand what you want to do, you want to override the value that is in J2 with the value that is in the D column, when it's on the same row where the current J2 value can be found in column A.
This can easily be accomplished with VBA, but I am not sure about a formula
oh yeah sorry i read that wrong. with a formula you can use j2 to look up a value and then replace the value in j2 with a new value, you would just go in a loop.
I am not sure I posed the question right. what I want to do is try and find a text number in cells v4:v400 that matches cell # a7. if there is a match then go three cells to the right of that cell # that matches and enter the text in that cell
