can't r1c1 achieve the same thing as

INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-2,COLUMN())

for example,

=substitute(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-2,COLUMN()),"x","y")

can't that be rewritten with r1c1, especially in vba
