Hey guys,

After really immersing myself in VBA for excel over the past 2 months (thank you people on this forum for helping me times when I was stuck), I would like to get serious about becoming competent with it. I have some company money I can spend on developmental materials -any suggestions?

Also: I would love to be able to make something like Excelon: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/8748/shooting.htm

What is the path to develop something like that? Is it all VBA?

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Wow, that is amazing! Never imagined it had that much potential/power.
Thanks for sharing the link.

Awesome Stuff!

The workbook Projects are password protected so we cannot know for sure what VBA code is behind those games but I suspect they are just lots of APIs specially graphical API functions applied to normal userforms - very imaginative.

Once you have familiarized yourself with VBA and the Excel Object model, start learning about programming the API and how to apply it to excel. There are many online sources/books on the subject with plentiful examples. It is certainly not an easy task as you start transgressing the bounderies of native VB but it can be very rewarding.

I think you are on the right track with the API hunch. I think the notes in the latest version said something about 'taking full advantage of the API to increase the graphics rendering.' I'll head down that path and learn what I can. Maybe some of the concepts can help me create better user menus and snazz up my current excel models -make them look less 'excel-y'.
