reduce total

Hello,
I need help with the following problem, I need to create a stock count sheet and am trying to create the following:
The total stock is in A1, the consumption is in cell A3, now this must go from the total to cell A1, how should I put this in a formula?

not really sure what you're asking. Are you asking to change the value that is "TYPED" into cell A1 by the value "TYPED" into cell A3? If that is the case you cannot do that with a formula as you cant have a persisitent formula in a cell if it is overtyped . It can probably be done with VBA, but in any case you need to describe where the total stock is located (or the formula for how it is calculated). As well as the consumption value or formula.
