Reducing Runtime with Very Large Spreadsheet

Here is my situation. I have a 100 mb Excel spreadsheet that takes 15 seconds to calculate when making a change to inputs. There is a 2D table of inputs included in the model.

1) Is it possible to have the main spreadsheet closed, have another (much smaller) spreadsheet open that includes macros that will paste various scenario versions of the input table into the main spreadsheet (still closed), and get back results from the main spreadsheet (still closed) based on named ranges?

2) Is it possible this can decrease the run-time by not having the main model open?

Thanks
