Under excel, I can use the name manager to assign a name to a column's value for a specified row and reference that elsewhere in the same row.

For example, cell A100 has value 1234. In excel, I can create an entry in the Name Manger called total_of_row with the value =$A100 and then elsewhere in that row, I can reference the value total_of_row and the value is 1234. If I'm on row 101, I'd get the value in A101 for total_of_row, and similar for other rows.

How can I do something similar in Google Sheets? If needed, I can use helper fields that are off screen or on another sheet but I don't know where to start.

Thanks,
-Eric
