I have a file on my desktop which is 14.6Mb in size which when opened either via Excel or Windows Explorer, is taking about 15secs to open.

I am a little puzzled by this as other files of this size and larger open much much quicker.

There are quite a lot of formulas in this file, but it doesn't seem to be an issue with running calculations when opened as the progress bar gets to about 90%then pauses for 20 or so secs and then and opens the file.

Does anyone know why this would be happening for one particular file?

Thanks

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Do you have any links to other files? Have you got the auto save on!

There are no external links and autosave is not enabled.

Nothing unusual about the file other than quite a bit or formulas in there and a pivot table.

I have just copied each worksheet over to a new file and this seems to have solved the problem, and other than it taking about an hour to do and a/some phantom links (use 'Break Links' option???) appearing it is saving as it should now.

I can only assume the original file had somehow been corrupted in some way.
