Hi

I have a spreadsheet and in A1 I have a name of a domain "testdomain1.com" from here I want to do two things. In A2 I want to just have "testdomain1" (remove the period and everything after it. Then I want to add "DB" So in A2 the final outcome should be "testdomain1DB" From here I can stretch it down the column to load the other records

I am getting a little confused on the code to use to accomplish this.

Thank you for you help.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
If I understand correctly, this should do the trick

=CONCATENATE(LEFT(A1,FIND(".",A1)-1),"DB")

That worked perfectly.

I have a question though. I remember about a year ago I found a code that will leave a cell blank it if has a function if the cell that it calculates against is empty.

In this case your code is wonderful but if there is nothing in column A the column B shows and error [Value].

I am curious if you know how to append the function to just show a blank or a dash (-)

Thanks again for all the help
