Repeat function and format issues

I'm trying to rate a list of businesses from 1-10 (using stars), they can however receive half stars.

I am using the REPT function to show this i.e. = REPT("é",D8)

where D8 is the cell referencing the number of stars awarded. I have formatted the cell with the function Wingdings 2 as the 'é' character results in the star shape I am after.

This works fine for integers.

Does anyone know how I can achieve the half star presentationally as it shows only 4 stars if I award 4.5 etc?

Any help is appreciated.

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Thanks Andrew, it doesn't like I'll be able to achieve the exact result I was wanting using the REPT function so I will run with this. If I have time I may look to VBA and hide/unhide pictures.
