REplace function

Found an example of the replace function, and changed it a little, but it doesn't work the way I want.

I want to replace any "X" by a "%", but not in the first 6 characters.
So I use this:
ActiveCell.Value = Replace(ActiveCell.Value, "X", "%", 7)
Using the 7 to start at the 7th character.

But when running this, "4451NC4XA" is changed into: "4%A".

How do I keep the first 6 characters unchanged?

Could you not first extract the first 6 characters using Left(a1,6), replace the x's in the remaining characters, then concatenate back?.
