Hi guys,

Is it possible to restrict the movement of a shape to a particular cell?

Example: I want to restrict the movement of the blue circle shown below in H29 to that cell only

lock shape.PNG

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
You could use the following property to do it.

Ensure that the shape is in one cell first and then apply this property.

Hi Saba,

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have already tried that method. Setting up the properties the way you showed locks the blue circle into position where I can't move it within the cell after I protect the worksheet.

My goal is to restrict the movement within the cell meaning I want to be able to move the blue circle within the cell so I can place on the bullseye.
I don't want users to move the blue circle outside of the cell.

Hi Shelby21,

Did you find a solution to this in the end ?
Hi Jaafar,

Unfortunately, I did not find a solution to this. Based on feedback I received, I came to the conclusion that it isn't possible to restrict the shape within a cell and still allow the user to move the shape within that cell.
