Hi im using the below code to set a value in a larger macro.

leg2 should return a value of 0.23 in this case... now if i Dim leg2 as long i get nothing, if set it as a string then the value populates.

My question is, how can i make the result a number, even if it looks like text.

Code:
If rCell.Value = Cell.Offset(0, 1).Value Then
      leg2 = rCell.Offset(0, -19).Value
      Exit For
End If

If it helps in a formula i'd put = V( )to do this...

You cannot Dim it as Long (or even Integer) as those data type can only hold whole numbers and 0.23 is not a whole number. While you could Dim it as Variant, the better choice would be to Dim it as a Double (you could also Dim it as a Single, but Double gives you more flexibility as to the size of the number you can store in the variable).
