Hi ! I am new here ! I can't find how to retreive Excel file name (of active excel file or other opened files) in a cell or in a macro. Help appreciated ! thanks!:)

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
For the active excel workbook, you can use a formula like
=CELL("filename")

It will give you the full path and the filename like C:\Users\Momentum\Documents\ForMyBlog\[Dropdown_Reduction.xlsx]DropdownList, in which case, the filename is "Dropdown_Reduction.xlsx" and "DropdownList" is the sheet from which the formula was invoked.

if the file is not saved, the formula returns a blank

In VBA, you can use
Code:
?ThisWorkbook.Name
and that returns the name of the file directly
