Retrieve active cell format

I am trying to retrieve an activecell's format. If it is a text format or anything other than a date format then change it to a date format like 1/1/2011. If it is a date and is formated like 1/1/2011 12:00:01 PM then change it to 1/1/2011, short date format.

    If IsDate(ActiveCell) Then ActiveCell.NumberFormat = "d/m/yyyy"
