scatter chart series ordering problem

Hi,

I have an issue with a scatter chart that I'm hoping to get some advice / help with.

Whenever I built a scatter chart in Excel 365, I've found (more often than not) that if I change the order number of a series (i.e. the number quoted at the end of the SERIES(series name, x values, y values, order number) when viewed in the formula bar.), Excel drastically changes the formatting (mainly colour) of all series; which is incredibly frustrating. It tends to occur if I make large changes e.g. change the order number of series 24 to 1. I have tried gradually reducing the order number of a series e.g. 24 to 20, then to 15, then to 10 etc. but when changed to 1, the formatting goes awry.

I have googled the issue, but to no avail. Just wondering if anyone has encountered the same issue, and how / if they managed to resolve it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I can't replicate this misbehavior.

Does it also happen if you change the order using the up and down buttons in the Select Data dialog?

Have you customized the formatting of the series?
