Hello all.

I have a challenging question im hoping there's an answer to.

I have a master list of names on 1 tab of a workbook.

On a separate tab I a list of names that i want to search the master list and return the result. The challenge is the names are not all the same (i.e 123 MAIN STREET v1 LP on new sheet but on the master sheet ill have 123 Mainstreet version 1 L.P or 123 Mainstreet v1 Limited Partners).

Vlookups are not idea as it may return another version of the 123 Mainstreet name (123 Mainstreet v 4). I a using Index(masterlist, match(lookup value & "*", masterlist)).
this is a partial text search but very clunky.

Is there a better way to do a lookup? open to any suggests as i have to manually search 700+ names.
MANY MANY THANKS.
