I am stuck.
I am trying to search column J for the word "upgrade" and if found return "M" in column K. This needs to search about 500 rows. Thanks!!

Welcome to the board,

Try this in cell K1

Code:
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Upgrade",J1)),"M","")

Thanks!! It worked, but the spreadsheet gets refreshed when I run a query. I need something to plug into the vb routine to look for a blank in column L, if there is a blank, search for the word "upgrade", then enter an M in column L. If column L is not blank, proceed to next row.
I hope this makes sense.
