hi all, can anyone help me with the search & lookup function.

Example: I have a EMP Id in Column A & Emp name in column B

Emp ID Emp Name
gr5859sid sid
gr5860sam sam
gr5861jack jack

so i need a formula where it should return a value as sam for the lookup value gr5860

Try:

=Vlookup(A1,A1:B100,2,false) - Place this in another sheet for testing, and type the ID into cell A1
