select data in chart

i am having a terrible time selecting the data i want to appear in my chart. normally excel can do this automatically but not this time.

i had to make a video to show what i'm talking about

if the video is not working then it probably hasn't uploaded yet.

i can't figure out how to select the data so that column b appears on the y axis and column a appears on the x axis
