Selecting, not overwriting, pivot field items

Recording myself selecting a pivot field item gives "currentpage =".

But when I run that code, if the text I'm inputting is not in the pivotfield's collection, the currentpage just gets overwritten.

Is there a way to select, not overwrite, a pivotfield item?
