I have a cell that is formatted as m/d/yy h:mm. I need to separate this into one cell with the date m/d/yy and one cell with the time. I can't figure out how to do this. I'm sure there is a simple explantation.

What I have:

A1
9/26/06 10:30

What I want:
A1 B1
09/26/06 10:30

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
You can use text to columns for that.

Data >> Text to columns

Hello,

Use DATA --> TEXT TO COLUMNS, delimited, use SPACE, then format as mm/dd/yy for col A and hh:mm for COl B

Oops!

when I do Text to Columns...the column that contains the time always shows up as AM eventhough I have it formatted under Format > Time as 13:30. Example 09/26/2006 22:26 turns into 10:26
