Setting Variable as a text string

Hello All, I hope someone can quickly solve this for me
I want to set a variable as the text contents of the ActiveCell and then later in the code, make a different cell equal the variable, if that makes sense.
The variable is MyAME

    Dim MyAME       As String
 
    MyAME = Range("A1").Value
    ' ...
    Range("B1").Value = MyAME
End Sub
