A colleague has a fairly complex workbook, A, that needs to have bits of itself copied into other books, B & C on a regular basis. Copying works fine if the workbooks are open in the same instance of Excel , but if the second sheet is in another copy of Excel, the first attempt at copying takes two several seconds and subsequent attempt to copy the same or different data fail. No error message, just a blank selection. Any data in the paste area are removed, but formatting remains.
Copying from another, far more complex workbook, D, to B or C works fine, even if D is open in the same copy of Excel as A but if a copy A-B fails, I can't copy from D to B.
I'm stumped. Our IM&T department fiddled around with the problem and suggested the owner of the file contact me as, for my sins, I seem to be the Trust Excel expert (!!!???)
We need to let other people loose on the file, but can't really do it if it's going to mess them around in the same way. Using the same copy of Excel is inconvenient as we use twin screens. Plus I don't like being beaten!
Any ideas?
